Masters in Mathematics, database architect, developer and crazy rock climber with a serious disdain for gravity. In his spare time he codes, designs back-end systems and still manages to be an attentive father and husband. His past is a trail of high tech enterprise companies working as the Technical Architect with Accenture, BC Hydro and Fortis. He even built the database structure for ThinkorSwim, one of the most complex applications you'll ever see. He's in charge of our platform architecture and performance, and yet, still maintains a good sense of humour.

Web Developer

TradableBits, a downtown Vancouver start-up with over 20 Million Monthly Active Users on Facebook, is seeking a highly motivated Web Developer. Our platform allows users to create custom Facebook apps and marketing campaigns in minutes to engage fans and customers. We currently managing over 320,000 Facebook pages and are one of the top ranked Facebook developers.

Our target market is small & medium sized businesses and communities that want to do deeper engagements within their social network, which we think is the next big boom. We’ve got cool stuff in the works and a HUGE opportunity to attack but we need some talented and passionate people to help accelerate our growth and polish some of our rough edges up using high quality craftsmanship.

About the Job

As a Web Developer, you will be responsible for creating the code that will be seen by tens of millions of people around the globe. You will work closely with the VP of Product & Experience to develop our HTML5 responsive front end. Attention to detail and passion for well-written code are paramount. You may not have a CS degree but you need to be fired up to work in a fast paced environment and have a sense of humor.

Requirements

• Knowledge of at least one of scripting languages: Python, Ruby, Perl, Php
• Experience working in Unix environment ( Linux, Solaris, Mac OS, etc. )
• Basic understanding of HTTP protocol options ( GET vs POST, headers, SSL )
• Ability to write hand-coded, clean and commented html and css that works cross-browser and cross-device
• Knowledge of Javascript and JS frameworks ( jQuery, Dojo, etc. )
• Excellent verbal and written communications
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of features

Bonus Points

• Experience with CSS grid frameworks (e.g. bootstrap)
• Experience with Django framework
• Experience with Open Graph API
• Understanding of RDBMS concepts
• Experience developing mobile web apps
• Active with social media and a solid understanding of the space
• Experience working in a start-up environment
• Sense of humour and irreverence
